Framingham official visits NMC
Framingham State College associate vice president Dr. Scott Greenberg is on island to conduct a site visit of the Northern Marianas College master’s education program.
According to Raymond D. Diaz, Community Development Institute coordinator and instructor, Greenberg will be on island from June 16 to 20 and will visit the education classes at NMC as an observer.
Association of Commonwealth Teachers president Betty Miller, who is working on her master’s degree through the Framingham program, said the program is vital for teacher education in the CNMI.
“Its one of the first graduate level programs [in the CNMI] besides the University of Guam,” Miller said.
Last month, NMC awarded degrees, diplomas, and certificates to 245 students, 27 of whom received their master’s degree from the Framingham State College.
The Framingham educational program is a nine-course program designed for teachers to improve their skills in classrooms and throughout the whole education environment.
Courses include supervision, staff development and collaborative leadership; issues and strategies in reading and literacy instruction; special education in the regular classroom; creative teaching techniques and use of multimedia.
Greenberg is scheduled to meet with students under cohort 5 and 6 this evening at NMC Room D-1, from 6pm to 10pm.
Diaz said any alumni who may be interested in meeting with the Framingham official before or after the scheduled meeting may make arrangements with the CDI.
