2-2 draw for Sureshanks, GMF
The 2008 NMIFA Co-ed Soccer Summer League continued Thursday night with the game between Sureshanks and GMF ending in a 2-2 draw at the CPA Airport Field.
Steve McKagan and Tyce Mister found the back of the net for the Sureshanks, while Dan Westfall and Daniel Macario scored for GMF.
Last Wednesday, Captain Morgan’s beat Deaniacs by a score of 3-1. Allen Mijares, Tiger Lee, and Zach Posner scored for the winning team, while Brenda Schultz scored for Deaniacs, but since she plays for another team, her goal won’t count toward the Golden Boot award.
Last Tuesday, Gil Fever edged out Devil’s Advocates, 3-2. Jack Thethaiguy found the back of the net twice for the winners, while Jesse Phonsutjit was responsible for Devil’s Advocates two scores.
After one week of play, Gil Fever and Captain Morgan’s are tied for first 1-0-0 record, while Sureshanks and GMF are tied for third with their 0-1-0 slate. Devil’s Advocates and Deaniacs are tied for fifth having 0-0-1 standing.
The Thai duo of Phonsutjit and Thethaiguy, meanwhile, are leading in the Men’s Golden Boot competition with two goals apiece. The women have yet to score, so everyone in the league is tied for first place.
NMIFA Co-ed Soccer Summer League coordinator Angelo Villagomez said the league lasts for eight weeks, with games played on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons. Each team will play one game per week.
Games will start at 5:15pm on game days and will consist of two 35-minute halves with five-minute halftimes.
