NMBF Youth Summer Clinic draws a crowd
Northern Marianas Badminton Federation’s free badminton clinic at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium drew a total of 27 participants in its first day and 35 in its second day last week.
The youngest of the participants is Yum Yum Varona at only six years old, while the clinic also drew 18-year-old Luis Camacho Jr. as well as 17-year-old Mt. Carmel School student Pauline Cielo.
NMBF public information officer Rey “Hapi” Gabriel said the club is still inviting the youth to take part in the clinic held at the Oleai Sports Complex venue from 8:30am to 10:30am every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The clinic runs until June 11.
Serving as coaches of the free badminton clinic are Edwin Montoya, Marconi Calindas, Macoi Aguda, and Gabriel himself, while assisting them are Juliet Ramos, Babes Cielo, and Shirley Kim.
Merlie Savellano and Malou Mendoza have also both donated their valuable time in the clinic and are in charge of refreshments.
The free clinic for the fastest growing net sport in the CNMI is open for youth ages seven to 18. Equipment and refreshments will be provided by NMBF.
