This week is CNMI Nurses’ Week
Acting Gov. Timothy P. Villagomez has proclaimed this week as CNMI Nurses Week in recognition of the service nurses provide to Commonwealth residents.
In a proclamation signed Sunday, Villagomez praised the estimated 250 nurses currently working in the Northern Marianas for their “commitment, dedication, passion, professionalism, and swiftness in responding to the health care needs of the people of the CNMI.”
Villagomez urged young people to consider a career in the nursing profession.
“In our diverse population, nurses across the CNMI are challenged in meeting culturally sensitive health care needs each day. Despite this challenge, the nurses’ continued faithfulness and commitment to quality health care contributes greatly to improving many lives. We extend our sincere and warm gratitude to all nurses for their dedication and passion to public service,” Villagomez said.
The proclamation mirrors the theme for this year’s Nurses’ Week, “Nurses: Diverse Roles, One Mission.”
To celebrate Nurses Week, the CNMI Nursing Association has organized a continuing education program for the local nurses. Lectures are being conducted on a wide range of health care-related topics, the nursing licensure exam, and the health situation in the Commonwealth.
The Nursing Association will participate in the Liberation Day parade on Friday. On Saturday, a Nurses’ Ball will be held at Fiesta Resort and Spa.
