The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands voted two new members on its board.

At a recent General Membership meeting held at Marianas Resort & Spa, HANMI members elected Aqua Resort Club general manager Hiro Sugie and Saipan World Resort general manager Hong-Chul Shin as board members.

“We are very happy to have Mr. Shin and Mr. Sugie join us on the HANMI board,” said HANMI chairwoman Lynn A. Knight. “Their wealth of knowledge and experience in the hospitality industry make them true assets to the HANMI team.”

Shin will take over for Hideo Nishigori former general manager of Hotel Nikko, now Palms Resort Saipan. While Sugie was elected to take over the post of Hyatt Regency Saipan general manager Michael Von Siebenthal, as Siebenthal has been given a new assignment with Hyatt in Japan.

The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands was established on Aug. 29, 1985, after a group of hotel operators came together and saw the need to form an organization representing the hospitality industry in the CNMI. Through proactive community participation, HANMI is committed to fostering a better way of life for the people of the CNMI. (HANMI)
