Of street signs and speed bumps
In reference to the reprogramming of lapsed fund from the street naming project, I disagree with it due to several street signs being vandalized or run over by unknown vehicles, and never replaced.
I remember reading an article about our mayor, Juan B. Tudela, saying that the street naming project has not yet been completed at the time but somebody was already destroying the signs or that some street signs were missing before even the project was completed. I agree because in Dandan village alone, lots of street signs are gone, with missing “Stop” signs, speed limit, pedestrian crosswalk, etc.
The intent of the reprogramming was good, but it should have been reprogrammed for the same project to replace all signs that are missing, destroyed or are hard to read due to sign being vandalized; or to paint all crosswalks, especially near bus stops. Schools will be open in less than a month and safety should have been the focal point.
The speed bumps are a good idea (it’s a way of saying “slow down”), but again, for safety and vehicles’ wear and tear, I think all speed bumps should be painted bright orange or yellow. Believe me, motorists will appreciate that as not all drivers have 20-20 vision. Perhaps, maybe in the not so distant future, all of these issues might be addressed, so help us God.
