Technical meeting for govt/biz softball league tomorrow
Tournament commissioner Joey de la Cruz said there would be a technical meeting for team representatives tomorrow, Oct. 7, for the upcoming 2008 Inter-Government/Business Softball League.
The meeting will start at 9:30am at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room.
“We are requesting all team representatives to attend. We will discuss, amend and adopt the ground rules for this season,” Dela Cruz said.
He said waiver and roster forms would be distributed during the meeting.
The Division of Sports and Recreation earlier set the opening of the league on Oct 7.
There will be two divisions—men and women with the games to be played at the Miguel “Tan Ge” C. Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.
Registration is still ongoing as organizers are inviting the private sector to join. The deadline for submission of entries and payment registration fee will be on Oct. 22.
The entrance fee for both divisions is $400.
A total of 19 teams joined the previous tournament last April.
Department of Community and Cultural Affairs won both the men’s and women’s division titles.
There will be three games per night, which will be held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday starting at 6:30pm for the first game, 7:30pm for the second game, and 8:30pm for the third game.
The league will adopt a single round-robin format with the Top 10 teams advancing to a double elimination in an add/drop by team’s second game format.
Games for the women’s division will be played every Monday and Friday starting at 7:30pm.
The regular season will be three rounds while the playoffs will be all-in double elimination, also in an add-drop by team’s second game system.
