Fear of falling

The only way to take control of your life, raise your standard of living and move beyond merely surviving is to create your own unique product or service that you offer to increasing numbers of people in exchange for the things of value that you desire. This simple formula applies to countries as well as people. A self-sufficient economy has its own products or services of value to export to the world. Similarly, a self-sufficient individual has something of value to exchange in the global marketplace. That thing of value is based on your natural talent, skill, or interest—in other words, your passion!

I can’t guarantee you the race will be won
and that you’ll always stay ahead of the pack
But the race never ends for the one who endures
so rest assured, you can always come back

I can’t guarantee you the market won’t dip
or your stock won’t take a turn for the worse
But good plans for investing sell short and buy long
and make blessings from what others call curse

I can’t guarantee you we’ll always be friends
or we’ll always see things eye to eye
So just savor the good and hold memories in heart
even if the time comes for goodbye

I can’t guarantee that they’ll always look up
or your pedestal won’t tip and then tumble
But respect is immune to life’s rises and falls
for the person who always stays humble

I can’t guarantee you that power persists
unlike Rome things can fall in a day
But lucky’s the man who from pieces rebuilds
for to misfortune he never falls prey

I can’t guarantee you there’ll never be pain
or that your heart won’t break if you fall
But I do know it’s better to love fully and lose
than half-hearted or never at all

No there’s no guarantee that you won’t come up short
or your dreams will come true to your plans
But you learn, laugh and love on the safe side of the fall
where control’s squarely back in your hands

Physically falling. Falling down. Friendships that fall away. Falling behind. Having a falling out. Plans that fall through. Falling flat. Falling short. Falling from grace. The fall of an empire. Even falling in love. It seems everyone at one time or another has a fear of falling.
Don’t fear the fall, my friend. The safe side of the fall and true success is not being able to say, “I never fell,” but that you got back up afterwards. It’s better to say, “I took the leap, I learned, I loved, I laughed and I lasted.”
