Simon Manacop and Emi Williams both rolled to victory in the October Budweiser King and Queen of the Lanes Bowling Tournament last Monday at the Capital Bowling Center in Garapan.

\Manacop won his fourth men’s monthly championship after leapfrogging first day leader Kitz Barja in the second day of the tournament.

The Department of Public Safety officer bested Barja’s total by 24 pinfalls after putting together a four-game series of 873 last Monday.

The former youth bowler had it going right from the get-go, exploding out of the gates with a 232 in the first game and then followed it up with a more impressive 237 in the second.

He didn’t let up in the third game, knocking down 213 pins before wavering a bit in his fourth and final game with a 191 to finish with a 218.25 average.

Manacop also won the March, June, and September editions of the roll-off.

Barja settled for second place after his 849 total and 212.25 average failed to hold up in the face of Manacop’s blistering run. The Micronesian Brokers, Inc. general manager played Sunday and took the pole position after rolls of 248, 201, 202, and 198.

Ferdee Generoso wound up third after submitting a score of 843 last Monday built around a four-game series of 258, 189, 182, and 214, good for a 210.75 average. Incidentally, Generoso’s first game score was the tournament’s top score.

The win was worth a cool $100 for Manacop, while Barja and Generoso didn’t come home empty handed with cash prizes of $50 and $30, respectively. Manacop also won a case of Waioka sardines from MBI.

Dannie Robles (802), Richard Leong (789), Raymond Zapanta (789), Raymond Angeles (779), Efren Cacdac (702), and Percy Omechalang (678) complete the Top 10 for the October King of the Lanes.

Unlike Barja, January winner Williams fended off challenges in the women’s division to win the October Queen of the Lanes.

Her four-game series of 213, 164, 179, and 175 (731 total and 182.75 average) Sunday was good enough to beat all comers on Monday.

Curiously, Yho Villavicencio also held sway on the No. 2 spot after a roll of 722 (188, 183, 188, and 163 for a 180.5 average) on the first day.

Ron Cal settled for second runner-up after her Monday total of 186, 179, 149, and 194 added up to a 708 pinfall total and 177 average.

Williams won $60 and a case of Waioka sardines for the victory, while Villavicencio and Cal settled for the $30 and $20 runner-up purses.

Gina Sablan (679) and Gloria Omechalang (670) complete the Top 5 in the women’s division.

Last Sunday, Raphael Zapanta reasserted his mastery in the Bing Prince of the Lanes Tenpin Bowling Tournament, winning his seventh monthly championship following a four-game series total of 765 pinfalls.

The October championship follows Zapanta’s victories in the February, March, May, June, July, and August editions of the roll-off.

Like the Budweiser King and Queen of the Lanes, the Bing Prince/Princess of the Lanes is sponsored by MARPAC.
