Division of Community and Cultural Affairs easily won over Private School System, 15-2, in the opening game of the 2008 Budweiser Inter-Government/Business Softball League on Monday night at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.

The win signified DCCA’s intent to reign anew as it quickly erected a 10-2 lead after two full innings en route to the 10-run rule decision.

The defending champion added five more runs on top of the fifth and pitcher Mel Sakisat issued a 1-2-3 groundouts against the PSS batters in the bottom fifth.

Joey de la Cruz went 3-for-3 to lead DCCA’s offense. Craig Sanchez, Jun Saralu, and James Fleming added two runs each while Julian Camacho, Luis Iguel, Eli Rangamar, Calvin Tagabuel, and Mario Sablan had one each.

Sim Iramk and Jeff Isaac scored PSSs two runs in the bottom first.

But NMC spoiled DCCA’s aspirations for a double victory in the women’s division.

Four NMC players reached home plate thrice to lead their team to a morale-boosting 17-6 victory against the defending women’s champion DCCA.

Angie Ngirbedul, Connie Camacho, Kuki Pangelinan, and Edwina Baulecheng chipped in three runs each, while Pauline Camacho added two.

Three other NMC runners had one each. Linda Cabrera and Cherlyn Obichang also crossed home plate in the fourth and Felisa Brel in the sixth.

Bert Camacho led DCCA with three runs, while Doris Rangamar, Antonette Laniyo, and Jennifer Tegita had one each for their losing effort.

In the third game, P&S rallied back with two runs from Ton Reyes Sr. and Jack Reyes in the seventh and final inning to snatch a 12-11 victory at the expense of Pacific Islands Club.

Jack Reyes had two runs earlier in the match, one in the first and one in the fifth.

After Ton Reyes tied the count on a base hit by Roy Norita, Jack Reyes made the winning run via another base hit by Bernard Kileleman.
