Drug Enforcement Administration agents and Saipan and Tinian police arrested a man who allegedly sold methamphetamine or “ice” near a school on Tinian.

The U.S. government yesterday filed an information charging Ying Min Jin with one count of possession with the intent to distribute and distribution of a controlled substance near a school.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric O’Malley said that on Aug. 27, 2008, Jin was caught with 1.847 grams of “ice” within 1,000 feet of the Tinian Grace Christian Academy.

At yesterday’s hearing, Jin waived the indictment.

A DEA special agent stated in his report that on Aug. 27, a confidential source was able to purchase $140 worth of “ice” from Jin inside a poker arcade on Tinian.

The officers then entered the poker establishment where they arrested Jin.

A DEA agent and an officer searched Jin and recovered the $140 used by the confidential source to purchase the “ice.”

The agent and the officer also recovered 2.6 grams of “ice” from Jin’s wallet and front pants pocket, according to the report.

Jin allegedly confessed that he sources the “ice” from a supplier on Saipan.
