The Secret Garden at PIC
More than 30 students from public and private schools are participating this weekend in the musical drama production of The Secret Garden.
The Broadway musical, written by Marsha Norman with music by Lucy Simon, is based on the classic children’s story The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
The Secret Garden will be staged today and tomorrow, Nov. 21-22, at 7pm, at the Charley’s Cabaret of the Pacific Islands Club. The cost of admission is $7.50 for adults.
According to Jane Mack, the production is an ambitious venture for the talents of Saipan’s students, who have been rehearsing for weeks.
Thespians of the Western Pacific Islands sponsors the production.
TWPI is proud that it fosters cooperation between students from different schools. This production has a cast from Marianas High School, Saipan Southern High School, Kagman High School, ChaCha OceanView Junior High School, Saipan American Education Foundation School, Saipan Community School, and Saipan International School.
“The production rehearsals were taking place at MHS, and due to the murder on campus there, had to be cancelled at least one night during production week,” said Mack. “The students are greatly saddened by the death of the security guard, who was one of the team at MHS who helped support the production of The Secret Garden by making the rehearsals there possible and safe.” (PR)
