Stephens is RGA December Ace

Dwain Stephens’ qualifying score of net 71 stood its ground in last Sunday’s Refaluwasch Golf Association December Ace of the Month Tournament at the Kingfisher Golf Links.
It also helped that the three golfers who did beat the net score already won this year—February winner Asterio Tawanpiy scored a net 69 and October Ace Sonny Flores and July champion Manny Mangarero both carded a net 70—handing the last ticket to the RGA Club Championship to Stephens.
Stephens shot the post-handicap score of 71 during the Inaugural RGA Memorial Classic last Dec. 8 at the Marianas Country Club in Marpi.
Aside from Stephens, Tawanpiy, Flores, and Mangarero, also qualifying to RGA’s yearend tournament are Luis Byun (January), Jess Wabol (March), John Mettao (April), Joe Demapan (May), Jordan Kossam (June), Tars Olopai (August), and Bae Yong Man (November).
A total of 15 players took part in last weekend’s competition at Talafofo. Their names, with their net scores in parenthesis, are as follows: Demapan (72), Tony Rogolifoi (72), Don Dunop (72), Ulysis Kapileo (73), Jess Wabol (74), Olopai (75), Bill Kaipat (76), Jay Choi (76), Stephens (77), Joe Wabol (77), Gus Camacho (80), and Tom Tebuteb (86).
In the December Ace’s closest to the pin competition, Kapileo took the plum in hole No. 6, while Camacho was with no peer in hole No. 15.
