Tinian official nabbed for alleged domestic violence
Police arrested on Monday the Tinian Health Center resident director for alleged domestic violence.
Henry Ernie U. Hofschneider, 52, was taken to the Superior Court on Saipan Monday afternoon for charges of assault and battery, disturbing the peace, and interfering with a domestic violence report.
Associate Judge David A. Wiseman allowed Hofschneider to post a bail of $500 cash and a $2,000 unsecured bond for his temporary release.
Wiseman set the arraignment for Dec. 12. Attorney Joey P. San Nicolas represented the defendant.
Detective Barbara K. Arend stated in her report that on Oct. 2, 2008, a minor called Tinian DPS 911 at 3:10am for someone to pick up her mother, who was reportedly drunk.
A police officer arrived at the house and the victim told the officer that she was having a painful headache and was feeling drowsy. The victim also showed the officer a bump on the left side of her head.
When the police talked to the minor, she related that she woke up to the sound of her parents arguing in the living room. The minor allegedly saw Hofschneider slapping her mother and pushing the victim hard.
Hofschneider told his daughter to go back to her room.
The victim told the daughter to call the police, but Hofschneider prevented her from doing so, saying her mother was just drunk.
The minor went into the room and dialed 911, but she did not send the call because her father came in and told her not to do so.
When Hofschneider left the room, the minor locked the door and called 911 for police assistance.
