No Zone stops Freedom Air’s run in softball league

Freedom Air’s string of wins ended at five following No Zone’s 17-6 triumph in their game Thursday night in the 2008 Inter Government/Business Softball League at the Capital Hill Ballfield.

Shortstop Jerry Ayuyu led No Zone’s impressive win over Freedom Air making a grand slam in the fifth inning and going 3-for-5 at-bat. Ayuyu scored four runs, one double and six RBIs.

No Zone was off to good start with pitcher Carl Hocog connecting on a two-run single. No Zone scored three more runs at the top of the first on Freedom Air’s errors.

Freedom Air did not score in the first inning, made two runs in the second, and had another two in the third with Roy Celis’ homer bringing Dante Sablan home.

Celis’ roundtripper failed to spark a Freedom Air’ rally, as it had only one run in the fourth.

After four complete innings, No Zone was ahead by seven, 12-5, and increased the lead to 11 with a five-run top of the fifth highlighted by Ayuyu’s grand slam.

A solo homer from Reno Celis was Freedom Air’s only answer to Ayuyu’s grand slam at the bottom of the fifth allowing No Zone to improve to a 5-2 record.
[B] DCCA 21, Docomo 10[/B]

In other results, defending champion Department of Community and Cultural Affairs stretches its winning streak to seven after downing Docomo, 21-10.

DCCA is still on top of the 20-team field with its 7-0 record, a win ahead of Commonwealth Ports Authority.

Docomo dropped to a 3-5 record.

Centerfielder Julian Camacho made two homers for DCCA and was 4-for-4 at the plate. He had five RBIs.

Docomo was still leading, 9-5, after three innings, when DCCA found its targets in the last two innings drilling eight runs apiece in the fourth and fifth, while allowing its foe to only one run in the last two innings. Tyrone Omar scored Docomo’s last run on a John Acosta single at the bottom of the fourth.

[B]CUC 28, Law & Order 4[/B]

Commonwealth Utilities Corp. moved out of slump big time following a 28-4 thrashing of Law & Order.

CUC started slow making one run apiece in the first and second inning, but broke the game wide open in the last three innings saving the best for last with a 12-run top of the fifth.

Law & Order scored two runs in the first and one run apiece in the second and fifth inning.

CUC snapped its three-game losing skid and improved to a 2-5 slate.
