DCCA shows no mercy against Hopwood, 27-5
Department of Community and Cultural Affairs won over Hopwood as expected on Wednesday night via a 27-5 mercy rule and further widened its lead in the 2008 Budweiser Inter-Government/Business Slow Pitch Softball League at the Capital Hill Ballfield.
DCCA finished the game in just three innings with all of its batters hitting and scoring at will, and the team is now 12-0 while Hopwood has yet to score its first win after 11 games.
The defending champions showed their dominance in all fronts with 41 against Hopwood’s 19 at bat, 31-10 on hits, 3-0 on doubles, 1-0 on triples, 4-0 on homeruns, and 26-5 on RBIs.
Infielder Pete Tomokane was perfect on offense—four hits on four at bats, including two homeruns in the first and third, and five RBIs.
Pitcher Mel Sakisat and outfielder Joey Dela Cruz also fired one homerun each in the first and second, respectively. Sakisat was 3-for-4, including one double and three RBIs and had four runs. Dela Cruz was also 3-for-four, had three runs and four RBIs.
The other DCCA players who contributed well in offense were Craig Sanchez (4AB, 3R, 3H, 1 triple, 2RBI), Julian Camacho (3AB, 3R, 3H, 1 double, 3RBI), Jun Saralu (4AB, 3R, 2H, 1 double, 3RBI), Ben Tagabuel (4AB, 2R, 3H, 1RBI), Bob Lizama (4AB, 1R, 2H), Jonathan Tenorio (4AB, 2R, 4H, 3RBI), James Fleming (3AB, 1R, 2H, 1RBI, 1BB), and Bill Limes (3AB, 1R, 2H, 1RBI).
The scorers for Hopwood were Fred Salavaria and Frank Angel in the first, while Alex Sablan, Ronald Gabionza, and Edi Cabrera came up with one each in the third.
John Pialur singled in the third that sent three runners, Sablan, Gabionza, and Cabrera to home plate.
DCCA had a 5-2 lead after the first full inning when all 11 runners that went to bat scored for a 16-2 advantage.
The team then exploded again with 11 runs in the top of the third, while Hopwood managed only three runs in the bottom of third and the referees declared DCCA the outright winner.

DLNR 7, Law & Order 0[/B]
In the second game, DLNR picked up its sixth win in 11 outings and climbed from 11th to ninth place in the overall team standings.
DLNR won via forfeiture against Law & Order, which showed up with only eight players.
The loss was Law & Order’s eighth in 11 starts and it slipped to 13th position, joining Commonwealth Health Center and Public School System in a triple tie with 3-8 records.
[B]Mayor’s 16, CHC 7[/B]Mayor’s Office successfully sustained its explosive start to score the night’s lone upset victory at the expense of CHC, 16-7.
The win was Mayor’s Office second and is now 2-10 but stayed 19th place in the 11-team field tournament.
