CHC stuns Freedom Air in softball league
Unheralded Commonwealth Health Center posted its biggest win of the season against second-running Freedom Air, 11-10, on Wednesday night in the Budweiser Inter-Government/Business Slow-pitch Softball League at the Capital Hill Ballfield.
CHC rallied back from a 6-10 deficit after five full innings by scoring four at the top of sixth with first baseman Henry Reyes, shortstop Vince Rabauliman, catcher Fernando Camacho, and pitcher Tom Ito reaching home plate in succession to tie the count at 10-10.
Then Ito grounded out the first three Freedom Air batters at the bottom of the sixth.
Infielder John Duenas gave the game’s final run on a single by Reyes at the top of the seventh.
But the tension did not just end there, as Ito again steadied himself at the mound, striking out the first batter, Al Lizama, at the bottom of seventh. He also grounded out in succession Ton Aguon and Frank Cruz for the big reversal of fortune.
With the win, CHC improved its record to 4-8, tying Public School System at 15th place.
