No Zone stepped up early and booked one of the quickest wins in the ongoing regular season of the Budweiser Inter-Government/Business Slow-pitch Softball League, a 27-4 beat down of Law & Order Thursday night at the Capital Hill Ball Field.

Sparked by a 19-run explosion in the top of the second inning, No Zone needed just three innings to deliver the severe beating and improved its win-loss record to 9-3 in a tie for fourth to fifth places in the overall standings with Joeten Motors Jets.

No Zone padded a 4-1 lead after one complete inning then all of its 12 players—Kent Kalen, Nick Leon Guerrero, Jerry Ayuyu, Ned Norita, Manny Sablan, Frankie Pangelinan, Bruce Norita, Carl Hocog, Eric David, Kwon Norris, Tony Kapileo, and Jay Tilipao—batted twice in the top of the second where the team collared a total of 19 runs to further pull-away with a 23-1 advantage.

Law & Order got its second run from Jonas Barcinas in the bottom second, while No Zone scored anew with four in the top of the third then winning pitcher Eric David allowed only three hits and two runs from Law & Order in the bottom third to finish the game via mercy rule.

Shortstop Nick Leon Guerrero was perfect in offense, going 4-for-4, including four runs, three RBIs, and a triple. Bruce Norita was 3-for-3 with a run, a double, and five RBIs, Kalen was 3-for-4 with three runs, a double, a triple, and five RBIs, while Tilipau was 3-for-3, including three runs, a double, and four RBIs. Kapileo, for his part, went 2-for-3 and contributed three runs, a double, and three RBIs, with Ayuyu chipping in a 3-for-4 performance spiked by three runs, two doubles, and an RBI.

Jets 6, Legislature 5

Upset-conscious Joeten Motors rallied midway in the game before edging out Legislature, 6-5, to further strengthen its position in the Top 5 with seven more games left before the playoff round.

The Jets shrugged off a 1-5 deficit after three full innings, scoring two runs in the top of the fourth with Cliff Silil scoring on a triple by Ben Taisacan, who then reached home plate following a sacrifice fly by Peter Sablan.

They added three more runs in the fifth when Ernest Rangamar and Jay Cabrera scored on a two RBI single by Jeff Tenorio, who then made the deciding run on a double by Silil.

Silil hit 3- of-3 at bat to come up with a run, two doubles, and an RBI as the Jets dealt Legislature its fifth setback. Legislature slipped to eighth place at 8-5.

Docomo 18, DLNR 10

In another hotly-contested game, Docomo also came from behind to score an 18-10 triumph at the expense of Department of Land and Natural Resources.

With the win, Docomo remained in strong contention with its 9-4 mark and at solo sixth place.

DLNR failed to sustain a 5-3 lead in the third inning and suffered its seventh loss in 13 games to stay in 10th position.

Docomo scored six runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, seven in the sixth, and one in the seventh as against DLNR’s four in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Theo Minor led Docomo’s offense, going 4-for-4 with four runs and an RBI. The team totaled 26 hits on 50 at bats and had 12 RBIs on the way to victory.
