The Division of Environment Quality has given 10 sites on Tinian green flags after none of the samples collected from the locations contained excessive concentration of fecal indicator bacteria nor did they exceed the CNMI Marine Water Quality Standards.

DEQ analyzes water samples collected from Tinian’s recreational beaches and storm water drainage as part of its regularly scheduled sampling.

The agency said Marine Water Quality Reports are also provided at www.deq.gov.mp/section.aspx?secID=4 and http://www.cnmicoralreef.net/wq/beachcloseweeklyresults.htm.

Interested individuals and organizations can also receive email notifications of the weekly marine water quality reports by sending an e-mail to environment@deq.gov.mp.

DEQ welcomes all inquiries as to the quality of the beach water. The public is encouraged to contact DEQ at 664-8500 with any questions concerning this matter. (PR)
