The Crank strikes gold in NAGA
Trench Tech’s Frank “The Crank” Camacho continued to make the CNMI proud after a winning a gold medal in recent competition of the North American Grappling Association.
Camacho participated for the first time as a blue belt in the gi division on the way to becoming the champion.
Trench Tech Inc. president Cuki Alvarez said Camacho truly makes Saipan and the rest of the CNMI proud while he continues to fight in the U.S.
Alvarez said Camacho also competed in the open advanced no gi division where he took on advanced practitioner’s training.
Unfortunately, he lost his first match in the no gi to a black belt fighter.
“Frank continues to represent our islands and our people in prestigious tournaments around the United States. He has participated in a handful of grappling tournaments this past year where he continues to excel and place in the Top 3 consistently,” Alvarez said in an e-mail.
He said Camacho’s hard work and determination always pushes him past his natural talent and his results speak for themselves.
Camacho’s next fight will be in mixed martial arts where he excels the most.
Alvarez said MMA is Camacho’s forte and he is set to fight in Virginia this May.
Meanwhile, Alvarez announced yesterday that registration forms and rules for the upcoming The Art of War III is now available for interested participants.
The event is scheduled on March 14 at the Hibiscus Hall of Fiesta Resort and Spa.
Grapplers from Saipan, Guam, and Japan will be participating and entrance fee is $5.
Alvarez said fighter can sign up until March 13 at the Trench Tech Gym in Afetnas.
Entry fee is $20 for every fighter per class. Competitors will receive a shirt upon signing up. He added that fighters under 18 years old must have their parents sign the waiver form.
