The Patriots survived a last ditch rally by the Red Sox to win, 11-8, and regain the Junior Division lead last Saturday in the 2009 Saipan Little League at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.

But the Patriots needed three relievers after starting pitcher Christian Mizer retired to come home with the win.

Mizer was sent to first for third baseman Jared Sablan, who was sent back to third for first baseman Brian Camacho.

Camacho then was relieved by shortstop Jeremy Rabauliman, who finished the game on the mound for the three-time Major Division champions.

The Patriots established a 10-2 lead that they held on after four complete innings.

The Red Sox threatened with a run by A.J. Lizama in the fifth and exploded with five in the sixth from Joseph Atalig, Jesse DL. Guerrero, Patrick Aguon, and Thomas Reyes to chop the deficit to two.

Henry Rabauliman, the Junior Division leader in batting percentage with his .571, then proved his worth by hitting a double for the Patriots’ 11th run of the day and their fifth win in six outings.

Rabauliman also made a run in the third inning.

Lizama led the Red Sox with three runs, one each in the first, fifth, and sixth.

The Red Sox absorbed their fourth defeat after six games.

In another interesting game, D-9ers exacted vengeance against their first round conqueror after edging out Ol’Aces, 8-7.

Right fielder Nick Jones, who substituted Richard Saturno, scored the decisive run in the bottom of the sixth.

Early in the game, the D-9ers set the tone with two runs from the first and five more in the second for a 7-2 lead.

Ol’Aces moved to within one, 6-7, with four runs in the third by Shane Deleon Guerrero, Lamarc Iguel, Jacob Flores, and T.J. Sablan.

They tied the count, 7-all, on a run by Frankie Camacho via passed ball before D-9ers’ Jones put his stamp on the game, which was aided by an RBI flyout by Sid Nepael.
