Why delay federalization?
Congressman Kilili: With all due respect, what is a 180-delay or six months going to do? In our view, a delay or no delay makes no difference, unless you are hoping for some sort of a blanket amnesty, which we all know is not going to take place. Maria Therese Sebretchts, regional media manager of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and Michael Aytes, acting deputy director Department of Homeland Security, would have had the authorization of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to respond in the manner they did, when they answered all questions and uncertainties on the federal takeover of our immigration system come June 1, 2009.
We ask you this, congressman: What is it that you are not telling us? Well over two decades the warnings of a federal takeover has been an issue with members of U.S. Congress, but did any of you do anything to correct the loopholes and flaws of our immigration and labor system? Once you were an elected official in our Legislature and until recently you were with the Commission on Elections and for many years you had known about the corruption and backdoor political influences in our immigration and labor system. Today, as our Washington delegate, you asking for additional time to further hamper the much needed immigration and labor reform in our homeland. Why? Please understand this is by no means a personal matter but we are stating the true facts on the issues surrounding the federal takeover. We would like a clearer and honest opinion from you as our U.S. Delegate.
