TUMON, Guam—In an effort to support local businesses that employ members of the Guard and Reserve, the Guam-CNMI Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve will hold its 1st Annual Employer Awards Gala on May 2 at 6pm.at Marriott Guam Resort.

The gala, themed “We all Serve,” is a celebration of employers on Guam and the CNMI.

“This is our chance to say ‘thank you’ to the public and private businesses that support our local men and women in uniform,” said Guam Foundation for Employers president Paul D. Leon Guerrero, whose organization is sponsoring this event. “When those moms and dads and brothers and sisters get called to duty to serve our country, their mind needs to be on their mission—not losing their jobs while they’re away.”

By law, employers must hold jobs for men and women who serve in the Guard and Reserve when they get called to duty. This allows service members to concentrate on their mission.

The gala will honor the islands’ most supportive employers in addition to paying tribute to one of its volunteers with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

More than 200 employers, community leaders and service members are expected to attend the gala. (PR)
