Frank Cable sailors to volunteer islandwide

[B]SANTA RITA, Guam[/B]—Approximately 400 sailors from USS Frank Cable will volunteer at various schools, villages and beaches today, April 9, from 9am to 2pm, as part of the Navy’s Community Relations Program.

Sailors will volunteer at the following locations:

-Piti Mayor’s Office: Grass trimming, landscaping, painting bus stops and beach trash pickup ;

-Veteran’s Cemetery in Piti: Grass trimming and painting;

-Talofofo Mayor’s Office: Clean village beaches by bush cutting and trimming vegetation;

-Okkodo High School in Dededo: Work with staff and faculty to assemble book shelves in classrooms and the library;

-George Washington High School in Mangilao: Assist with interior and exterior general maintenance including grass trimming, scrubbing passageways and painting rooms;

-Mangilao Mayor’s Office: Upkeep baseball field including grass trimming, placing field markers, and cleaning and painting school bus stops in the village; and

-Price Elementary School in Mangilao: Paint school hallways.

As the U.S. Pacific Fleet’s only operational submarine tender, Frank Cable deploys to ports throughout the Western Pacific to provide services to both submarines and surface ships in the Seventh Fleet area of responsibility. [B][I](PR)[/I][/B]
