Frank Rosario takes SGA April Ace
Frank Rosario bested 21 other SGA members to gain the Saipan Golfers Association April Ace title last Sunday at Coral Ocean Point.
The 13-handicapper Rosario shot a 41 and 40 on the front and back nines of the Agingan Point course, respectively, for a gross 81 and net 68. He was the lone SGA member to have a net score in the 60s and won by three strokes against Das Krishnan.
Krishnan, who has a 17 handicap, tallied a 43 on the front and a 45 on the back for a gross 88 and net 71. He made his lone birdie of the day on the par-4 No. 13 hole.
Finishing third was March Ace and 15-handicapper Ray Dela Cruz, who drilled a net 72 after firing a 42 on the front and a 45 on the back.
There was a tie for fourth to sixth place with Jess Castro, Martin Sablan, and Nobert Sablan nailing identical net scores of 73.
The 10-handicapper Casto started strong with a 39 on the front, but slowed down in the last nine holes with his 44 for a gross 83. Martin, a 19-handicapper, had a gross 92 after a 44 and 48 on the front and back nines, respectively. The 20-handicapper Nobert shot a gross 93, as he had a 48 on the front and a 45 on the back.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Edward Manibusan (net 74), Ron Hodges (74), Steve Balakrishna (74), and John Babauta (75).
Other SGA members who joined the April Ace tournament were Joe Demapan (78), Edward Sablan 978), Jose I. Sablan (79), Mariano Fajardo (83), Art Deleon Guerrero (84), Teack Jung (85), Frances Sablan (85), Larry I. Deleon Guerrero (85), Ray San Nicolas (86), Joe Deleon Guerrero (87), Ben Aldan (87), and Joe Aldan (88).
Seven players made one birdie each, namely Babauta (hole No. 1), Balakrishna (No. 5), Dela Cruz (No. 13), Joe DLG (No. 8), Hodges (No. 4), Manibusan (No. 18), and Nobert Sablan (No. 6).
Winning the longest drive contests in holes No. 6 and 8, respectively, were Demapan and Babauta.
