The Northern Marianas College 2009 Charter Day Committee will be holding auditions for the celebration’s three main competitions: the Marianas Idol, Charter Day Dance Crew, and Battle of the Bands. Marianas Idol auditions will be held on May 4, Charter Day Dance Crew on May 5, and Battle of the Bands on May 6. All auditions will begin at 5pm. Finalists for all three competitions will be performing at the festivities on May 8.

The competitions will be judged on categories that include stage presentation, entertainment value, and overall performance. Five finalists will be selected for Marianas Idol, five crews for the Dance Crew Competition, and three bands for Battle of the Bands.

Those interested in competing may pick up an application form from the NMC Student Center in Building J at the College’s As Terlaje campus. There is no application fee for any of the competitions.

The Charter Day festivities will also be showcasing the talent and performances of several well-known groups on the island, including Uncle Ben’s, local dance group Inatuas, Carolinian Dancers, and Latte Vibes. The event will also include the musical fusions of Club V’s DJ Jeyrock.

In addition to the exciting entertainment, there will also be several vendors featuring island delicacies and specialty drinks for sale. Sponsors for the event include IT&E, Power 99, Pepsi, Shell Marianas, and Ericco Enterprises.
