Sweep for D’Pirates, Hustlers take lead
D’Pirates Huwa swept BwiiBwi’s Da Snipers, 7-0, Tuesday night at Jonny’s Bar to keep the lead in the Obyan Division of the 2009 Budweiser Open 8-Ball League.
Delivering the victories for D’Pirates were Jess Pangelinan, Ray Basa, Tero and Ray Takai, and Simeon Kapileo.
D’Pirates now have a 48-22 record, for a nine-game lead over the Perfect Spotters, who also won Tuesday night, downing USS Fotten Palau, 5-2.
The Perfect Spotters improved to a 39-31 slate after going 3-for-5 in singles matches and sweeping two doubles games.
USSP Fotten Palau dropped to third with a 38-32 mark and tied BwiiBwi’s Shark Attack. In fifth place is USSP Wat-Ever (34-36), followed by D’Pirates 8 Ballers (31-39), BwiiBwi’s Da Snipers (29-41), and VFW Warriors (23-47).
Shark Attack forced a tie for third with Fotten Palau after outclassing 8 Ballers, 5-2. Shark Attack claimed three singles wins and two doubles matches.
Also winning on Tuesday night’s was USSP Wat-Ever, which slipped past VFW Warriors, 4-3. USSP Wat-Ever was 3-for-5 in the singles games and secured the win after splitting the doubles matches.
In the Agingan Division, the Docomo Hustlers grabbed the lead after walloping Wild Wild West, 6-1.
Going into Tuesday’s game, the Hustlers were a win behind erstwhile leader Voyagers, as the latter held a 38-18 slate against the former’s 37-19 mark.
But Voyagers were relegated to second place when they won by only a point against Utopia Mix Aces, 4-3. Voyagers now have a 42-21 slate against the Hustlers 43-20 record.
Senen Pangilinan, Jerry Soriano, Robert Sanciangco, and Joemer Enriquez gave the Hustlers the needed win to take the top spot in the seven-team field.
In other results on April 21, Billy Bones Home Boys tripped Wild Wild West, 4-3, while the other game Tuesday night saw Snicker 8 Ball Knights thumping Billy Bones Bad Boyz, 5-2.
Home Boyz moved up to third place with their 32-24 record, followed by Mix Acers (31-35), 8 Ball Knights (26-27), Wild Wild West (20-36), and Bad Boyz (16-47).
