Run 4 Ron II, a fundraiser for Filipino runner Ronald Villafria’s quest to scale Mt. Fuji a second time, will have a 5:30-6am showtime and a go time of 6am tomorrow at the American Memorial Park amphitheater.

Villafria said prizes await the Top 3 in the 5-kilometer run, while those not fast enough to finish ahead of the pack will still get their chance of winning a couple of mobile phones in the raffle.

The entry cost is $15, which includes a raffle ticket and an event T-shirt. Those wishing to have more chances at winning in the raffle, which also offers other prizes, can buy extra tickets for a $1 each.

Run 4 Ron II will begin at the AMP amphitheater and will have runners proceed to the Micro Beach pavilion before going right toward the old Puerto Rico dumpsite and back.

Last year, a total of 120 signed up for the first Run 4 Ron fundraiser with 70 taking part in the actual run.

Proceeds from Run 4 Ron II will help defray Villaria’s expenses in taking part in the 2009 Fuji Mountain Race, or Fuji Tozan Race.

Villafria took part in the 2008 edition of the race in July 25, 2009, and finished the 36-kilometer trek up and down the 12,388-foot mountain in four hours and 20 minutes.

The Mt. Fuji Marathon or Fuji Tozan Race is composed of two legs, a 15-kilometer race to the fifth station of the mountain and a 21-km race all the way to the top. The final six-kilometers of the race is also a trail run.

Villafria was one of only 6,000 participants that have been pre-screened to take part in the 2009 edition of the Fuji Mountain Race.
