The 2nd annual Ridge to Reef Rangers program, a weeklong educational summer camp, is accepting applicants from interested families and students.

Hosted by the National Park Service, American Memorial Park and the CNMI Coral Reef Initiative, the program aims to teach elementary students about the connections between land-based pollution and coral reef health. Students will learn about watershed health and the island’s conservation areas through field trips led by resource experts and biologists.

The camp begins on July 25 and runs until July 29. Participants will be required to meet at American Memorial Park each day from 8am to 12pm. The camp is open to elementary school students entering the 4th, 5th and 6th grades. Space is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority will be given to new campers.

For registration forms and information, contact Lisa H. Eller, Division of Environmental Quality, at 664-8500 or lisaeller@deq.gov.mp.

Funding for the program is provided by the National Park Service, Pacific Historic Parks and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration’s Coral Reef Conservation Program. [B][I](PR)
