Convicted burglar convicted again, this time for ‘ice’
A man who was convicted of burglary in 2003 was convicted again on Wednesday, this time of possession of methamphetamine or “ice.”
Joey C. Dueñas pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance as part of a plea deal.
Superior Court associate judge Kenneth L. Govendo sentenced Dueñas to three months, with credit for the 90 days he had already served in jail. This means Dueñas will no longer serve further jail term in the “ice” case.
Duenas was ordered to pay a $100 fine and perform 100 hours of community service.
According to the plea agreement, on May 3, 2011 on Saipan, Duenas was found in possession of “ice.” The agreement did not indicate how much “ice” involved in the case.
Assistant attorney general Shelli Neal represented the government in the case; chief public defender Adam Hardwicke served as counsel for Duenas.
In July 2003, Superior Court associate judge David Wiseman sentenced Duenas to 10 months for burglary.
Police said Duenas and a then 17-year-old male entered Gallery #5 and ransacked the store of assorted T-shirts, baseball caps, printed short pants, batteries, hats, and backpacks.
