Saipan lad pursues career in juvenile justice
Michael Owen DeLeon Guerrero graduated from Boise State University with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice on May 14, 2011, and has been offered a job as a Juvenile Probation Officer for the Ada County Juvenile Court in Boise, Idaho.
DeLeon Guerrero is also planning to continue his education at BSU to pursue his master’s degree in Public Administration.
From the start of his educational career, DeLeon Guerrero has devoted himself to the understanding of the criminal justice system and did his senior internship with the Idaho juvenile court system that serves the Boise community. He has received extensive training in various aspects of the criminal justice field with special emphasis in law enforcement administration, juvenile justice and delinquency prevention, and community corrections. He is also certified to administer the Youth Level of Service Inventory, which is the process used to measure a juvenile’s risk of recidivism.
In his spare time, DeLeon Guerrero enjoys volleyball and has volunteered his time coaching high school and junior high school volleyball teams in Boise and Kuna. He was also a volunteer line judge for the volleyball game at the South Pacific Olympics held on Saipan in the summer of 2006.
DeLeon Guerrero is a 2005 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School. He also participated in the 22nd Annual AG’s Cup Speech Competition and helped Mt. Carmel School retained the championship title in 2005.
