Convicted copper wire thief Shabbo C. Sablan has been sentenced to a year in prison for his role in the burglary at the building of Shirley’s Coffee Shop and Restaurant in Susupe.

Superior Court associate judge David A. Wiseman sentenced Sablan yesterday to 18 months in prison, all suspended except for one year—without parole—with credit for the eight months and 11 days he had already served. Sablan will be released on Nov. 15, 2011.

Sablan was arrested on Nov. 15, 2010, with Roland R. Kaipat and Theodore O. Pehnos, after they were caught burglarizing the building of Shirley’s Coffee Shop.

Police saw copper wires that were already skinned and ready for transport in the generator room of the building. The damage to the electrical system at the restaurant and the building was estimated at $10,435.20.

In April 2011, Pehnos pleaded guilty to burglary and was sentenced to six months in prison.
