Butch fundraiser draws 94
The Butch Journey to XTERRA World Championship Fundraiser II had a bigger turnout than the June event after 94 individuals joined the bike and run races last Sunday.
First up to leave the starting line at Paupau Beach were the more than 80 bikers and came next were the 10 runners.
More than 25 minutes later, John Jenkins returned to the starting line and completed the 5K race from Paupau to the baseball field in Marpi and back. He timed in at 25:48.48 to place first in the shortest race the day and beat Rolan Cantalejo (36:24.54). Irma Halaby entered the women’s division 5K and submitted (26:51.60).
In the 8K race from Paupau to the Last Command Post and back, Stuart Smith and Cesar Danao crossed the finish line with identical times of 56:29.31. Jun Evangelista (57:13.51) and Rod Reyes (58:23.18) rounded out the Top 3.
Kim Young placed first in the women’s division with a time of 1:01:57, while Mamiko Oshima-Berger ran the course with her dog and had the second fastest time in her category at 1:08:30.
In the MTB beginners division, Ariel Lansangan logged 38:34.44 to defeat Lester Cave Antonio (50:34.49) and Joseph Vincent San Nicolas (52:19.55). Catherine Camacho was the lone entry in the women’s division and completed the race in 1:10:52.
Joan Salazar ruled the women’s division of MTB sports, tallying 1:20:40 against the 1:29:25 and 1:36:06 of Esther Ada and Sherly Camacho, respectively.
Youth biker Erico Castro finished first in men’s division of the MTB sports, clocking in at 56:24 and prevailing over Anecito Genaldo (56:50.66) and Arnel Cruz (56:51).
For the MTB open, Lewie Tenorio dominated the field with a time of 1:06:30. Completing the Top 3 were Mark Isip (1:08;52) and Harold Balana (1:11:18). Susan Marchitti was the winner in the women’s division with her time of 1:39:51.
In the road bike category, Kimiko Hasegawa logged 1:13:28 to top Regina Sebial (1:17:12) and Juanita Fajardo (1:36:04) in the women’s division. Aldrin Sta. Ana won the men’s division with a time of 1:02:28, downing Nap Dizon (1:02:96) and Gary Bandoja (1:03:20).
