A police officer was arrested late afternoon yesterday for allegedly beating up his girlfriend in front of her child at their Kannat Garden’s Apartment residence.

Sources said that Police Officer 2 Jerome Agulto Reyes, assigned to the Koban Station in Garapan, was arrested for assault and battery, disturbing the peace, assault, and child abuse.

A $10,000 cash bail was imposed for Reyes’ temporary release. He is expected to be taken to the Superior Court today, Wednesday, for his initial court appearance.

Sources said the victim sustained bruises on the right arm, left wrist, shoulder, neck, rear right ear, and right side of the back.

Detective Peter A. Aldan is handling the investigation, sources said.

Sources said the victim called a probation officer Monday afternoon that she was a victim of domestic violence involving her live-in boyfriend, Reyes.

The girlfriend reportedly claimed that the 35-year-old Reyes grabbed her by the neck, choked her, and repeatedly pushed her. Reyes also allegedly held a baseball bat across her chest. These allegedly happened on Saturday at 2:30am, in the presence of the girlfriend’s 9-year-old daughter. When the victim pretended to talk to a police dispatcher, Reyes allegedly grabbed and pulled her right arm and punched her on the right arm.

On Aug. 14, Sunday, Reyes allegedly threatened to break the face of his girlfriend’s daughter, scaring the girl.

On Monday, the girlfriend took her daughter with her to work. After work she drove to the Office of the Adult Probation, where she reported the incident.
