Zoning to look into alleged illegal auto shop
The Zoning Office will look into an alleged illegal auto shop in As Terlaje following a complaint made at the public hearing last Wednesday.
Acting Zoning administrator Therese T. Ogumoro told Saipan Tribune Thursday that she was instructed by board chair Diego Blanco “to look into the matter and initiate aggressive enforcement.”
Ogumoro disclosed that John Reyes of As Terlaje attended last week’s public hearing and complained about an ongoing auto shop operation in the area that is believed to be operating without a permit.
The area is zoned as village commercial and although auto shop operation is allowed, the alleged operator does not have the proper permit.
Reyes alleged that the auto shop operation is open even during weekends, according to Ogumoro.
Ogumoro disclosed that they had previously met with the possible violator who was given verbal warning to cease any unpermitted action because of earlier complaints.
With this recent development, Ogumoro pointed out the need for her and the enforcement section to do an “investigation and take proper action.”
“I will look into this matter again and make sure we take necessary aggressive enforcement of zoning law,” she added.
