IRS files tax lien vs Dynasty owner
Hong Kong Entertainment (Overseas) Investment Ltd., the owner of Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino, allegedly owes the U.S. Internal Revenue Service $593,821.39 in taxes for the 2015 to 2016 tax period.
IRS filed Friday a notice of federal tax lien against HKE before the U.S. District Court for the NMI. According to the IRS, taxes assessed against HKE remain unpaid.
IRS claimed that HKE owes Employer’s Quarterly Federal Tax Returns in the amount of $196,150.41 in tax period ending Sept. 30, 2015; $212,375.10 in the tax period ending Dec. 31, 2015; $139,750.19 in the tax period ending March 31, 2016; and $45,545.69 in the tax period ending June 30, 2016, for a total of $593,821.39.
Two weeks ago, the U.S. Marshals Service was only able to seize $595.84 from HKE bank accounts.
The U.S. Marshal Service seized the money shortly after U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona ordered the clerk to issue a writ of execution to attorney Richard W. Pierce, the counsel for two plane crash survivors, in order to collect $1.4 million from HKE bank accounts.
In her order, Manglona ordered the clerk to direct the U.S. Marshals Service to levy execution on all funds in HKE’s two accounts at Bank of Saipan and any Bank of Guam account it may hold, up to $1,375,952.71, to satisfy the survivors’ judgment.
Writ of execution refers to a court order that allows for the collection of money or property owed by a judgment debtor.
Plane crash survivors Tomoyuki Nagata and Dr. Jun Takimoto and his family, through counsel Pierce, recently filed a request for entry of writ of attachment before the court.
Writ of attachment refers to a court order directing a law enforcement or sheriff to “attach” or seize an asset.
A U.S. Deputy Marshal informed the court that he executed the writ of execution and seized a total of $595.84 from HKE’s two Bank of Saipan accounts.
No money was seized at Bank of Guam as HKE does not maintain an account with BOG.
