Overcrowding eased with DanDan, Kagman schools
The addition of DanDan and Kagman schools on Saipan will reduce crowded campuses and eliminate double sessions next enrollment.
During the Capital Improvement Project committee meeting held Wednesday afternoon, members worked on the zoning assignment for each school to fairly distribute the children among the ten elementary schools on Saipan.
Based on the current enrollment for each school, Tanapag will miss some 50 students who will be attending Kagman. From close to 1000 students, Garapan will accommodate over 800 following the zoning assignment.
Oleai school will also benefit from this proposal, expecting 50 of its students to attend the schools near their place.
The William S. Reyes, which used to observe the multi-track system, will also see the departure of at least 70 students from its current enrollment.
While San Vicente School will transfer one track to Dandan school starting next month. However, the delay in the completion of the school in Kagman will still make San Vicente as the popular destination for children coming from that area.
PSS officials expect to open Kagman in January next year and will cover the villages in Capitol Hill, Donni Hill, As Teo, Papago and the entire Kagman community. Children from these areas are now enrolled at Garapan and Gregorio T. Camacho schools.
For Dandan school, over 400 students will transfer to the new school who were originally enrolled at San Vicente, Koblerville, Oleai and William S. Reyes.
