Pajama party at the Hyatt
Just behind the ticket box, a bed welcomed the crowd. While inside the Gilligan’s, The Blocks’ lead singer Shareluck Avenido offered his own rendition of Michael Learns To Rock’s “Sleeping Child.”
At around 9:30 p.m., it was way past the child’s bedtime. But for adults, the night was still young and the party has just started.
Waiting for her cue, lady disc jockey Miss T. was in her black lingerie but covered with a robe of the same color. Representing Budweiser, Sheila Waters was in screaming red pajama top, while waiters serving drinks donned their own bedtime get-up.
It was the pajama party cooked up by Hyatt and MARPAC.
“This is something new, something crazy. This is a good time to let your hair down a little bit,” according to Adrian Slater, Director of Food and Beverage.
The mid-week surprise was designed to liven up the routine. It was supported by prizes and a bowl of pop-corn while dancing the night with The Blocks. Of course, the usual night cap was within reach.
Members of the band also came in their sleeping attire, while another bed was stationed on stage.
Now a few pounds heavier, lead singer Avenido and the rest of his male band members are on their second wind to entertain Gilligan’s loyal customers. The band’s new female vocalist also shined with the rest of the members.
By 10 p.m., requests were pouring in, except they were not lullaby songs. But on the edge of a new millennium, one could define his own bedtime song.
The pajama gathering is the first for Hyatt and lined-up special features will include the retro which will bring back the blast from the ’70s.
