The Attorney General’s Office has filed charges of theft and forgery against an employee of the Department and Labor and Immigration who allegedly stole a certain amount of cash that was supposed to be paid to a government client.

Christine Aldan was charged at the Superior Court last Friday.

According to the complaint filed by Asst. Atty. Gen. Marvin Williams, Aldan received on June 29 the amount of $1,400 to be paid to Chang Xue Wei as payment for a certain government transaction.

Aldan, however, did not turn over the money and used it for personal purposes instead, according to the complaint.

Aldan allegedly forged the initials of Chang on the receipt to make it appear that Chang had received the money.

Aldan is set to appear at the court on Sept. 13 for preliminary hearing.
