NMC students present first advertising plan
During the past few months, students in the Fundamentals of Advertising course have been putting theory into practice by preparing an advertising plan for Northern Marianas College.
According to course instructor, Rik Villegas, they surveyed over 300 junior and senior high school students from Marianas High School and various private schools to understand the current image and awareness of the College.
Even though the NMC has been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges since 1985, the survey discovered that only 59% of those surveyed were aware of the college’s accreditation, and 37% were not aware that NMC’s credits are transferable to other institutions.
From this survey, the students better understood the problems and opportunities the College faces in promoting the institution to future local students.
The students have been working closely with Tony Guerrero, director of NMC Development and Alumni Relations, to create a plan that will be usable for the College.
The public is invited to attend the presentation that will be held in the PIC Magellan room annex on Friday, Dec. 3rd, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m..
According to Villegas, who is also the SBDC Sub-Center director and previously a marketing consultant in the U.S., “I feel the students have done a professional job that will be of great benefit to the College. They will also be a valuable asset to local business owners as future employees and as they further apply their skills if they work with SBDC clients during their internship training in the coming semesters.”
