Former House Majority Floor Leader Ana S. Teregeyo has been appointed by the governor as his special assistant for Women’s Affairs effective last Tuesday. She replaced Rosita T. Pangelinan who held the position in acting capacity.

The post does not require confirmation by the Senate, but as a government appointee, Ms. Teregeyo is required to file a statement of financial interests with the Office of Public Auditor.

In appointing her, Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio said his administration has “confidence in her abilities and look[s] forward to working closely with you.”

Ms. Teregeyo lost her re-election bid for a seat at the House of Representatives for Precinct 1 on Saipan in the Nov. 6 polls. She retired early this month at the end of her last two-year term as elected official.

Hailed by her colleagues as pioneer when she was given a commemorative resolution last Jan. 6, Ms. Teregeyo had 34 years in government service and had served among others as director of the Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture before becoming a legislator.
