SIS wins Academic Bee Challenge
Saipan International School beat 11 other contestants in the 2000 CNMI Academic Bee Challenge (elementary level) which was held recently at the Multipurpose Center in Susupe.
SIS team members Eddie Camacho, Henry Chan, Christina Chang, Andrea Negrete, and Kelsey Wallace clinched the first place after a close fight with competitors. They were coached by Tim Mills.
Mount Carmel School, which was coached by Jovie Manzanilla, came in second. Members of the team were Michael Babauta, Nicole Babauta, Jeffrey DLGuerrero, Rebecca Pierce, and Jordan Tomokane.
Third place went to Tanapag Elementary School, with team members Tony Alam, Vanessa Cabrera, Dominic Camacho, Steven Johnson, Chris Seidler. They were under the supervision of Barbara Gilles.
Other School that participated in the competition were Garapan Elementary School, Grace Christian Academy, GTC Elementary School, Oleai Elementary School, Rota Elementary School, Saipan Community School, San Antonio Elementary School, San Vicente Elementary School, and Tinian Elementary School.
According to Adrew Borja, president of the National Honor Society, the organization launched the project to foster positive competition between elementary schools and reinforce academic learning.
The MHS Chapter of the National Honor Society organized the event.
