Music is food for the soul, so they say. And what else could be better than listening to fine live singing after a romantic dinner or a date with your loved ones?

Meet Luisa Sta. Maria at the Vino Bar of the Aqua Resort Club. This Filipina singer offers good music and more between 7:00 p.m. to near midnight, accompanied by pianist Manny Fuentes — a perfect time to unwind before calling it a day.

Luisa, who has been a professional singer by being a back up vocalist and recording artist, says her style is a mixture of divas and jazz greats who have endured the test of time — from Patti Austin to Ella Fitzgerald.

People have come to expect her to give them good entertainment, and she says she is ready to face audiences on Saipan, who come from different cultural backgrounds.

“I’m sure they want me to feel comfortable and be at home,” quips Luisa, adding she has come prepared for songs they want to hear, such as standard and pop songs.

Performing is in the blood for this woman, and singing just comes out naturally. She has appeared in various shows, concerts and special events as solo or group performer in the Philippines and other countries.

This is her first time to perform on Saipan, and already she is getting used to all the things that the island has to offer — nice and clean environment, friendly and warm people, and most of all the adventures that await her here.

Slim and tall, Luisa is a commanding presence that will surely captivate residents and visitors alike. She says she has learned to speak a little of various international languages like Japanese and Chinese and she is willing to study a bit of the vernacular language of the island.

But it is always the music that serves her universal language. “I want to perform in front of a big audience of any nationality. They give me the energy and bring out the best in me,” says Luisa.
