Retired Associate Justice Ramon G. Villagomez is vowing out as district chairman of the Northern Marianas Boy Scout Program effective April 1, 2000.

Mr. Villagomez yesterday wrote to Department of Community and Cultural Affairs Secretary Tom Tebuteb informing of his intention to step down from the position he held for more than 10 years.

He said his resignation should not come as a surprise since he had informed the Boy Scout District Committee of his plan to relinquish the position.

Mr. Villagomez said he is relinquishing the position to give other aspiring community leaders to provide leadership in the Commonwealth’s Boy Scout Program.

“I have too many other volunteer commitments and I do not have the time for all of them at the same time,” he told Mr. Tebuteb in his resignation letter. Mr. Villagomez is the current chair of the Board of Regents of the Northern Marianas College and president of the CNMI Bar Association.

Representative Rosiky Camacho, according to the retired associate justice, has expressed willingness to assume the position.
