The CNMI’s only public radio station, KRNM 88.1 and 89.1 FM, is about to hold a fundraiser to help the non-profit station with its operational costs. The event will be a wine and cheese tasting evening to be held at Coffee Care on Thursday, March 30, 2000, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

KRNM, owned and operated by Northern Marianas College, is located on the NMC Saipan campus, provides listeners on Saipan and Tinian a wide variety of educational, informative, and entertaining programs 24 hours a day over two frequencies on the FM dial – 88.1 and 89.1.
The bulk of the programming consists of National Public Radio (NPR) and Public Radio International (PRI) shows that are sent via satellite. This link allows the community the opportunity to hear programs that are unavailable through any other media outlet in this area. NPR delivers popular news broadcasts, such as Morning Edition and All
Things Considered, weekly and daily features including Fresh Air and Car Talk, as well as numerous classical and jazz programs. PRI provides the British Broadcast Corporation (BBC) reports, the financial update known as Marketplace, and other musical shows.

KRNM currently receives no federal funding or grants, requiring local revenue to be generated. Like every other public radio station, KRNM relies heavily on listener donations, business contributions, and fundraisers to stay on the air.

Tickets are $25.00 per person and can be purchased in advance at the radio station or at the door on the night of the event. Thanks to generous support from Coffee Care, Pacific World Enterprises, and TDC. All proceeds from this event will go directly to KRNM.
