CPA lauds retiring JAL executive
A top official of Japan Airlines Saipan operation was recognized by the CPA Board of Directors for his years of dedicated service in promoting tourism in the Northern Mariana Islands.
Kaishun Nishigaya, sales manager for JAL Saipan is retiring after 40 years with the Japan based air carrier. In a ceremony recently held at Coral Ocean Point, CPA Board Chair Roman Palacios, Board Secretary Roman Tudela and CPA Executive Director Carlos Salas hosted a lunch for the retiring executive and presented him with a special award recognizing his commitment to promoting CNMI tourism.
Mr. Nishigaya joined the Saipan office in 1992, having previously served JAL in other capacities for 31 years. As the Saipan sales manager, Mr. Nishigaya has been instrumental in promoting direct service to Saipan and leaves the office with JAL bringing in more visitors from Japan than anytime in its history. He has also taken a
very active role in the efforts of the Marianas Visitors Authority and has been a long time supporter of such events as the Northern Marianas Tourism Academy, and more campaigns such as the Taste of the Marianas food festival and the Garapan Street Market.
Mr. Palacios said the people of the Northern Marianas owe Mr. Nishigaya and JAL a great deal of gratitude for their contributions to tourism and over the years and especially their unwavering commitment during these difficult economic times.
Mr. Nishigaya and the CPA Board were joined at lunch by JAL Saipan manager Yukiharu Enomoto and Mr. Nishigaya’s successor, Yasuyoshi Kinoshita. Mr. Enomoto accepted an award for another longtime JAL employee, Yusuke Iio, who is also retiring.
