The Garapan Youth Learning Center, in collaboration with the NMI Council of the Humanities, is sponsoring a workshop for the Mother/Father Read Program.

This program will help parents learn how to read stories to their children in a fun and exciting way. Reading to children offers many benefits, including learning about their world, getting along with their brothers and sisters, about sharing, about being different from other people, about expressing their feelings, about feeling loved and cared for, and much more.

Locally trained instructors, many of whom are former teachers, are ready to teach parents the many different and effective ways to read to their children. Also, there are hundreds of books especially selected and are available on an “on loan” basis for children from six months old to 10 years old.

There are no registration fees and interested parents are welcome to take part in this growing and successful program.

If you are interested, please call the Youth Learning Center at 664-7883. Ten or more parents must be registered in order for the workshop to take place.
