PSS sends 6 students to Florida for national competition

Six students from various CNMI high schools yesterday flew to Florida to attend the four-day 13th Panasonic Academic Challenge at the Disney World’s Convention Center in Orlando.

The students will be competing against fellow high schoolers all over the nation in the national tournament which will tackle all subject areas such as Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Technology, to name few.

The event will take place from June 17 to 20, 2000.

Jai Wung Kim, Estelle Hofschneider, and Don Won Ahn of Marianas Baptist Academy, Abraham Diaz of Tinian High School, Rolando Danz of Grace Christian Academy, and Jing Boum Bae of Mount Carmel High School have been chosen to represent the Northern Marianas in the competition.

Gaining the highest scores during a local competition held among private and public high schools this year, these students were selected to attend the competitive race versus students from other U.S. states and territories.

They will be accompanied by coaches Ramir Trinidad of Marianas Baptist Academy and Liz Hofscheider of Tinian High School.

The group is scheduled to leave on June 15, via Northwest Airlines and are expected to return on June 23. (MM)
