Some 22 representatives from various government agencies who are currently attending the Combined Law Enforcement Academy yesterday finished the Pepper Mace Certification Course conducted by Capt. Manuel Mangarero.

Capt. Mangarero said the employees were taught how to use the mace properly in anticipation of threat or violence. During the training held at the Boating Safety Office, the enforcement agents were also sprayed with mace to give them a first hand experience of how the attacker would feel when the mace is used on them.

“The pain will last for about 30 minutes so you really have to know how to give first aid when you used it to the attacker. You have to wash your face very well with soap and water to remove the pain,” said Capt. Mangarero.
