CHC has full-time pathologist
Dr. Angela Takano arrived on Saipan this week and has signed a long-term contract to provide a full-time pathology services in the Commonwealth based on CHC She is the hospital’s and Commonwealth’s first full-time pathologist since 1994.
Dr. Takano received her U.S. Board Certification in combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology in 1995 after completing her pathology residency at the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. She went on to do a surgical pathology fellowship and a Cytopathology fellowship in Hartford, Connecticut. Recently she completed an Oncologic Pathology fellowship at the famous Sloan-Kettering Memorial Cancer Center, New York City, in 1998. She is also board certified in Cytopathology.
Dr. Takano has spent the last two years as an assistant pathologist and instructor of Pathology at the Shohan Kamamura General Hospital in Kamamura, Japan.
Dr. Takano will become the director of CHC’s laboratory. In addition, she will also be responsible for hospital autopsies.
Laboratory manager Nancy Taggerty said, “This will allow medical staff to better provide efficient and reliable medical care that is laboratory dependent.
